Montek Products

The Montek hardware family is designed around the sensing, communication, and computing needs of protected-area field operations. From front-end AI recognition and ranger-carried positioning to LoRa mesh networking and field-based edge computing, these products work together to support the stable operation of the Montek digital-twin protected-area management system
in environments without public network access.

Montek Box

Lightweight Edge Computing Workstation for Field Deployment.

Montek Box is a lightweight edge computing workstation designed for field camps and protected-area sites. It can operate in environments with no public network, weak connectivity, or even offline conditions, providing protected areas with local data processing, AI analysis, and system service capabilities.

In traditional conservation work, infrared camera trap images, drone data, patrol records, and community engagement data often need to be taken back to an office or processed through cloud servers. Montek Box moves these capabilities to the frontline, allowing protection teams to complete AI image recognition and automated analysis of infrared camera trap photos, drone flight control, patrol and community data management, geological hazard field measurement, and 3D model visualization directly from field camps.

It makes “field-based data analysis” possible and gives protected areas near-server-level local computing capability even without stable public network access.

Core Capabilities

  • Field edge computing: Deploys at protected-area sites to support local data processing and system operation.

  • Works without public networks: Supports core operations in no-network, weak-network, or offline environments.

  • Infrared camera trap AI analysis: Enables on-site identification, filtering, and automated analysis of camera trap photos.

  • Drone flight control support: Supports drone route planning, flight control, and field data processing.

  • Patrol and community data management: Supports the management, statistics, and analysis of ranger patrol records and community interview data.

  • Field measurement and 3D visualization: Supports geological hazard field measurement and 3D model visualization of protected areas.

  • Alternative to traditional servers: Provides lightweight, localized, and mobile computing capability for field conservation scenarios.

Montek Beacon

Ranger Positioning and Emergency Alert Terminal

Montek Beacon is a portable positioning and emergency alert device designed for field patrol scenarios. With a power-bank-style form factor, it is easy for rangers to carry and can operate for long periods in mountains, valleys, forests, and other environments where public network signals are weak or unavailable.

Unlike traditional positioning devices that rely on 4G, 5G, or satellite signals, Montek Beacon uses LoRa mesh networking to transmit ranger location, status, and emergency alert information back to the Montek main system in real time. Even in complex terrain, protection teams can stay informed about frontline personnel, improving patrol safety and emergency response capability.

Core Capabilities

  • Real-time positioning: Continuously transmits ranger location to reduce the risk of losing contact during deep-field patrols.

  • Emergency alert: Allows rangers to quickly send a distress signal in unexpected situations.

  • No public network required: Operates without relying on 4G or 5G networks, making it suitable for protected areas with no signal coverage.

  • No satellite required: Uses LoRa mesh networking for low-power communication.

  • Long-duration operation: Suitable for long-distance and long-duration field patrol tasks.

  • Connection to the Montek main system: Positioning and emergency alert information can be centrally dispatched, recorded, and responded to through the Montek platform.

Montek Repeater

LoRa Mesh Repeater for Field Deployment

Montek Repeater is a LoRa network repeater designed for the complex terrain of protected areas. Based on Meshtastic-enabled mesh networking, it can be deployed for long-term operation in mountains, valleys, forests, and other environments where public network signals are weak or unavailable. It helps extend the coverage of low-power field communication networks.

In protected-area patrol, real-time positioning, and sensor data transmission, mountainous terrain often creates communication blind spots. Through multi-node mesh networking, Montek Repeater connects Montek Beacon devices, low-power sensors, and other front-end field devices, ensuring that location, status, and monitoring data can be transmitted reliably back to the Montek main system.

In complex mountain landscapes such as giant panda habitats, Montek Repeater can use a small number of nodes to build a low-power mesh communication network covering core patrol areas and key monitoring points. This allows protection teams to stay connected to frontline field conditions even under no-public-network, low-power, and long-duration deployment conditions.

Core Capabilities

  • LoRa mesh networking: Enables low-power communication between field devices based on Meshtastic network capability.

  • Blind spot coverage: Helps solve signal blockage problems in mountains, valleys, dense forests, and other complex terrain.

  • Long-term field deployment: Suitable for continuous operation in protected-area frontline environments.

  • Stable data transmission: Supports reliable data return from Montek Beacon devices, sensors, and other front-end equipment.

  • Low-power wide-area coverage: A small number of devices can help build a field-level positioning and data transmission network.

  • Connection to the Montek main system: Location, status, and sensing data can be managed, dispatched, and responded to through the Montek platform.

Montek Eye

Front-End AI Vision Terminal

Montek Eye is an intelligent vision terminal with edge computing capability. It can be deployed on surveillance cameras, drones, infrared camera traps, underwater cameras, and ranger-carried devices. As the front-end “eye” of the Montek sensing network, it enables protected areas to see, identify, and respond to events directly at the field level.

Unlike conventional cameras that only capture images or video, Montek Eye performs AI recognition at the front end. It can automatically identify 15 common types of human disturbance in protected areas and issue Level 1 to Level 3 alerts according to the severity of each threat. The recognition results are sent back to the Montek main system for centralized recording, analysis, dispatch, and response.

The key value of Montek Eye is that it moves AI recognition closer to the field. For low-power devices such as infrared camera traps, recognition results can first be transmitted as text through LoRa over long distances. When the system determines that an event is important, it can wake up a faster network to send the corresponding photos or videos. This reduces communication and energy pressure for long-term field monitoring, while ensuring that critical events reach the protection team faster.

Montek Eye allows sensing devices in protected areas to move from simply “capturing” images to truly “understanding” what they see.

Core Capabilities

  • Front-end AI recognition: Performs preliminary recognition and judgment on the device side, reducing dependence on cloud computing and high-speed networks.

  • Human disturbance detection: Automatically identifies 15 common types of human disturbance in protected areas.

  • Tiered alerts: Issues Level 1 to Level 3 alerts according to the severity of each threat.

  • Low-power transmission: Sends recognition results as text through LoRa over long distances.

  • High-speed network wake-up: Triggers photo or video transmission when an important event is detected.

  • Multi-device integration: Can be used with surveillance cameras, drones, infrared camera traps, underwater cameras, and ranger-carried devices.

  • Connection to the Montek main system: Recognition results, alerts, photos, and videos are processed through the Montek platform.
